Annual Major Advising

annual advising

Every May, prior to Fall registration, undergraduate students in the College of Engineering are required to attend an Annual Major Advising session. Annual Major Advising sessions are an opportunity for faculty and staff advisors to update students on changes and provide timely reminders. Topics vary year to year, but generally include:

- policy changes within the Office of Student Academic Affairs
- changes to major requirements
- course sequencing and prerequisite structures
- new, changed, and deleted major courses
- technical electives
- College of Engineering and UCR email accounts
- EIT/FE Exam
- Internships, research projects, job placement
- Student support services: Learning Center, Career Center, Academic Excellence Workshops

Attendance at Annual Major Advising sessions is mandatory and is verified by scanning UCR ID cards.

Failure to attend an Annual Major Advising session will result in delayed registration. Students who do not attend are required to satisfy their advising requirement by accessing the Office of Student Academic Affairs' Advising Module, available via the Student Academic Affairs website, beginning on the first day of make-up registration.
